Economee Privacy Policy
Last updated: 11 October 2026
In short
Economee has no server that stores your subscriptions and no user database on our side. There are no accounts and no sign-in. We do not sell data and show no ads.
On iPhone and iPad your subscription list lives on your device and in your private iCloud; we cannot see it. The app also makes a few network requests to work: exchange rates, service logos, and your bank if you connect it.
On Android there is no sync and no bank import: your subscriptions live on that phone only, and to move them you save a copy into a file yourself.
On both platforms the app sends pseudonymous usage analytics to our own EU server, including a once-a-day summary of your totals. You can switch it off in the app's settings.

What data we process
1. No accounts
Economee has no accounts, registration or sign-in. We never receive your name, email or any identity information, and we keep no user records on any server of ours. On iPhone and iPad, if iCloud is enabled on your device, your data syncs through your own private iCloud storage under your Apple ID, which Apple handles; we have no access to it. On Android there is no sync at all: your data stays on that phone.
2. Data you enter
Subscription names, prices, currency, billing period, renewal dates, categories and notes. Stored locally on your device. On iPhone and iPad, if you keep iCloud sync enabled in the app, a copy is also in your private iCloud database (CloudKit), which only you can reach through your Apple ID. On Android it stays on that phone only. We have no access to it on either platform and cannot recover or delete it for you.
3. Bank statement import (Monobank, optional — iPhone and iPad only)
If you choose to connect Monobank, you enter a personal API token that you generate yourself. The token is stored only in your device's Keychain, grants read-only access, and is sent solely to api.monobank.ua to fetch your statement. Your transactions are processed on the device to detect recurring charges and are never sent to us. Disconnecting via Settings → Disconnect and delete the token, or deleting your account, removes the token. Monobank processes these requests under its own privacy policy.
4. Screenshot recognition (optional)
On iPhone and iPad, if you add a subscription from a screenshot, text recognition runs entirely on your device using Apple's Vision framework. The image never leaves your device.
On Android recognition works the same way and runs on the device, using Google's ML Kit bundled inside the app. The image is not uploaded anywhere and no network connection is used for it.
5. Exchange rates (iPhone and iPad only)
Once a day the app requests exchange rates from open.er-api.com. Only the code of your base currency (for example "EUR") is sent; the provider also sees your IP address, as with any internet request.
6. Service logos (iPhone and iPad only)
To show an icon next to a subscription, the app requests the logo from the service's own website and, if none is found, from icons.duckduckgo.com. No data about you is sent, but those websites and DuckDuckGo receive your IP address and can see that a device at that address requested that logo.
7. Usage analytics
To understand which features work, we collect pseudonymous analytics: in-app events (for example "subscription added", "statistics screen opened"), app version, iOS version, language and country taken from your device settings (not from your IP), and a random identifier generated on first launch. This identifier is not linked to your Apple ID, name or email, and a new one is created if you reinstall the app.
Once a day the app also sends a summary of what is in it, as totals only: how many subscriptions you have, what they come to per month, how much the savings counter holds, the code of your base currency (for example "EUR") and whether Premium is active. The two sums are in your base currency and rounded to whole units. These are figures, not a list: without service names they show the scale of your spending, not what you spend it on.
We do not send to analytics the names of your subscriptions, your notes, your payment card details, your bank token, your name, email or location. We do not use the IDFA and do not request App Tracking Transparency permission. Analytics are stored on our own server hosted by Hetzner Online GmbH in Helsinki, Finland (EU). No third-party analytics company receives this data. You can disable analytics at any time in the app's settings; that switches off the daily summary as well, because it travels the same way as every other event.
The Android version collects the same analytics, in the same way and to the same server: in-app events, the once-a-day summary of your totals, app and Android version, language and country from your device settings, and a random identifier created on first launch. It is switched off in the same place — the app's settings — and switching it off stops the daily summary as well.
8. Notifications
Reminders are scheduled locally on your device. We do not use push servers and do not collect notification tokens. This is true on both platforms: on Android reminders are local alarms set by the app itself, and no notification token is created or collected.
9. Crash reports
We do not run our own crash reporting. If you enabled "Share with App Developers" in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements, Apple may show us anonymised crash reports under Apple's privacy policy.
On Android we do not run crash reporting either. If you have Google's "Usage & diagnostics" enabled in your phone settings, Google Play may show us anonymised crash reports under Google's privacy policy.
10. Support requests
If you email us, we process your email address and message to reply. Emails are stored with our email provider.
11. Payments
On iPhone and iPad, Premium is sold by Apple; on Android, by Google Play. We never see your card details. The store tells the app only whether a subscription is active, and sends us anonymised sales reports with no buyer identity in them. Payment data is processed by Apple or Google under their own privacy policies.
Purposes and legal basis (GDPR)
- Running the app, sync, purchases, bank import and logos: performance of a contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).
- Pseudonymous analytics: our legitimate interest in improving the product (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). You can opt out in the app settings.
- Replying to support requests: legitimate interest and contract performance.
Who receives data
- Apple: iCloud storage, purchases, optional crash reports (iPhone and iPad).
- Google Play: purchases, optional crash reports (Android).
- Hetzner Online GmbH (Germany), hosting our analytics server in Finland; it receives analytics from both platforms.
- Monobank (Ukraine), on iPhone and iPad only, if you connect it, and only receiving requests made directly from your device.
- open.er-api.com and logo hosts including icons.duckduckgo.com, receiving requests made directly from your device.
- Our email provider, for support correspondence.
On Android the only recipients are our analytics server and, for a purchase, Google Play: there is no rate provider, no logo service and no bank.
We do not sell data and do not share it with ad networks or data brokers. Data may be disclosed when required by law.
International transfers
Analytics data is stored in the EU (Finland). On iPhone and iPad, requests to Monobank, the exchange-rate provider and logo hosts go directly from your device to those services, which may be located outside the EEA. Where we use a processor outside the EEA, transfers rely on EU Standard Contractual Clauses or the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.
Retention
- Your subscriptions, settings and — on iPhone and iPad — the Monobank token: until you delete them or delete your account in the app.
- Analytics: up to 12 months, then deleted or aggregated.
- Support correspondence: up to 24 months.
Your rights
You may request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, and object to processing based on legitimate interest. The fastest way to delete everything is Settings → Account → Delete account in the app: on iPhone and iPad it erases your data on the device and in iCloud, the Monobank token, reminders and settings; on Android it erases everything stored on that phone. Analytics records cannot be traced back to you, since the identifier is random and not linked to your identity; disabling analytics in settings stops further collection, and reinstalling the app breaks the link to any earlier records. For any other request, email us. You may also lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority: in Poland, the President of the Personal Data Protection Office (uodo.gov.pl), or the authority in your country of residence.
Children
Economee is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
Security
On iPhone and iPad, data on your device is protected by iOS, the bank token is kept in the Keychain, and iCloud data is encrypted by Apple. On Android, data is protected by the operating system and kept in the app's private storage, which other apps cannot read. All network requests use HTTPS on both platforms.
Changes
This policy may be updated as the app changes. The date at the top shows the latest revision. We will notify you of material changes in the app.
